چکیده

Cirrhosis is the end stage of progressive liver fibrosis, resulted from chronic inflammation and injury. Early identification risk factors appropriate treatment for hepatic decompensation paramount positive health outcomes. In this review study, we revisited mechanisms associated with gut dysbiosis intestinal hyperpermeability in advanced disease, further discussed nutritional strategies management cirrhosis. dysbiosis, proportionally lower concentrations bacteria belonging to beneficial taxa such as Lachnospiraceae, Clostridiales, Ruminococcaceae Veillonellaceae others are observed, relation pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae, Bacteroidaceae others. Cirrhotic patients present decreased bowel motility, bacterial overgrowth increased permeability. Dysbiosis may exacerbate conditions due ability adhere epithelium, produce endotoxin, disrupt bile acid metabolism, activate immune system trigger inflammation, a vicious cycle. The triad encephalopathy – cirrhosis an evident entity, primary prevention well those three aim strongly at improving by focusing on interventions. High-protein diets be recommended patients, protein source key factor consider, so dietary fibre carbohydrate compositions. Attention given reduce saturated fat intake. Supplementation branched-chain amino acids, probiotics prebiotics have also shown results.

Radiographical findings in patients with liver cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Hepatic encephalopathy is a common complication encountered in patients with liver cirrhosis. Hepatic encephalopathy is not reflected in the current liver transplant allocation system. Correlation was sought between hepatic encephalopathy with findings detected on radiographic imaging studies and the patient's clinical profile. METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducte...

Treatment of Hepatic Encephalopathy: Targeting the Gut-liver-brain Axis

The pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) involves the interaction between two pathophysiological mechanisms: ammonia detoxification and inflammation. The neuropathology of HE is characterised by astrocyte dysfunction and swelling due to ammonia detoxification. The enzyme glutamine synthetase, which is located mainly in astrocytes, protects neurons by absorbing excess ammonia and glutamat...

Minimal Hepatic Encephalopathy in Patients with Cirrhosis by Measuring Liver Stiffness and Hepatic Venous Pressure Gradient

BACKGROUND/AIM Transient elastography (TE) of liver and hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) allows accurate prediction of cirrhosis and its complications in patients with chronic liver disease. There is no study on prediction of minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) using TE and HVPG in patients with cirrhosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Consecutive cirrhotic patients who never had an episode of...
